San Francisco-based AI-enabled ambient automation platform Augmedix announced it will be fully integrated into virtual care and communication organization Andor Health’s ThinkAndor platform. 

AI-powered ThinkAndor enables virtual provider visits and patient monitoring and allows care teams to collaborate and gain insights from EMRs. 

The partnership will enable physician notes to be created directly within ThinkAndor Virtual Visit allowing AI-generated notes to be available seconds after a virtual visit. 

"This integration demonstrates Augmedix’s commitment to serve the broadest spectrum of specialties and care settings within the market. The Andor-Augmedix approach is focused on unobtrusive integration wherein the ambient documentation is part of the native virtual workflow and end-user experience paradigm," Manny Krakaris, CEO of Augmedix, said in a statement. 

"Deep integration will also enable optimized upstream audio ingestion that generates the highest quality downstream note output quality scores."

THE LARGER TREND

Augmedix began as a Google Glass-based startup out of San Francisco. It raised $17 million in 2016 from investors Sutter Health, Dignity Health and TriHealth. 

Later that year, the company raised $23 million in a funding round led by investors McKesson Ventures and OrbiMed, which brought its total funding to $60 million.

The company also partnered with SD-WAN provider Aryaka in 2016 to deploy its IoT-based application globally. 

In 2019, Augmedix announced it raised $19 million in Series B funding with contributions from McKesson Ventures, Redmile Group, DCM Ventures and Wanxiang Healthcare Investments. The company planned to use the funds to scale its operations to systems and clinics across the United States. 

The company went public in 2021 with a $40 million IPO at $4 per share. Currently, Augmedix is trading at $3.91 per share as of the time of this article. 

In 2020, Andor Health partnered with Orlando Health to bring its mobile communications platform to the hospital system. The aim of the partnership was to increase collaboration between patients and physicians while improving patient experiences.

In 2022, Andor Health again entered into a partnership with the Florida healthcare organization, which now utilizes an AI-assistant for a digital front door during virtual health visits. The virtual care assistant is fully integrated into the health system’s EHR.    

In February, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital struck up a partnership to utilize generative AI during virtual visits. The collaboration enabled Cincinnati Children’s to automate and expedite virtual care at clinics and in-home.
