MaxQ AI signs CDS software distribution agreement, CareCloud expands to urgent care system, and more digital health deals

In an effort to boast patient engagement, last week Hospital Sisters Health System announced that it will be integrating its SeamlessMD system with Epic’s new SMART on FHIR technology. According to a statement, the new technology will enable providers to enroll, receive alerts and monitor patients on SeamlessMD without leaving the EHR.

“SeamlessMD has been an instrumental partner in helping us connect with our patients,” Jeffrey Suzewits, chief medical information officer for the HSHS Central Illinois Division, said in a statement. “The integration of Epic and SeamlessMD is an exciting milestone as we continue to innovate and better serve patients in our communities.”

This morning MaxQ AI, a clinical diagnostic and workflow software maker, inked a distribution agreement with TeraRecon-subsidiary EnvoyA. As part of the deal, MaxQ AI’s FDA-cleared Accipio intercranial hemorrhage analysis software will now be available to hospitals to purchase. The technology is able to help doctors identify and prioritize patients with a potential hemorrhage.

Halifax Health’s implementation of Nuance Healthcare’s AI workflow and coding software has increased the productive and satisfaction of its physicians, according to a release from the two groups. In addition, the software tools led to a 63 percent reduction in severity queries, as well as a 20 percent increase in case coverage.

“We are committed to improving the satisfaction and productivity of our physicians and CDI team while continuously advancing patient care,” Cathy Huss, healthcare information management director at Halifax Health, said in a statement. “Since implementing Nuance’s suite of AI-powered solutions, we have experienced significant improvements in physician and CDI team productivity and satisfaction. Nuance CDE Triage’s prioritization and automation capabilities help our CDI team focus its efforts, using the added time to investigate additional opportunities to affect quality, while also expanding the ability to cover more cases.”

The Georgia Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Network has announced a new partnership with Backpack Health that will provide the latter’s patient engagement and health tracking software for free to its community members. The two will be building a patient registry for EDS and other related disorders, and will leverage de-identified health data consenting patients using the platform for research into the conditions.

“Working with Backpack Health, we can support our members by making medical information portable and shareable, a major challenge our community members face daily,” Melissa Dickinson, founder of the Georgia EDS Network, said in a statement. “Using this powerful data platform, we can also co-direct meaningful research for [EDS] and related disorders, and we will have a chance to play an active role in the prevention of death and disability for those of us living with EDS. This participation will be a step forward in creating best practices and identifying care trends for the future.”

Doctors on Call Maui has selected CareCloud’s practice management software for its urgent care centers.

“People don’t expect to get sick on vacation, but it’s a reality,” Paige Williams, managing director of Doctors on Call Maui, said in a statement. “With CareCloud’s technology, we’re able to make the whole process as fast and smooth as possible, keeping the patient moving quickly from the waiting room to the exam room to getting whatever labs or medicines they need, while avoiding the insurance eligibility and coverage issues that can create frustration and delays.”
