Speech recognition company Nuance announced its Dragon Medical 10 solution, which it claims is both 20 percent more accurate and nearly twice as fast as its last offering. The latest software is available in the UK and Ireland to start. New features include medical vocabularies, hidden mode, extended mobile dictation support, and advanced voice shortcuts and templates.

Big news from New Hampshire: The state Senate just passed a bill that instructs health insurers to cover telemedicine visits. Health insurers in the state used to require that a doctor meet a patient face-to-face in order to be reimbursed. 

President Obama has tapped Harvard Medical Professor and director of the Institute for Health Policy at Massachusetts General Hospital, David Blumenthal, as the national coordinator for health information technology.
