HypnoVR raises €4.5M to accelerate roll-out of digital therapy
 
French digital therapeutics firm HypnoVR has raised €4.5 million in Series A funding for its virtual reality-based medical hypnosis solution for pain and anxiety.

The round was led by Theodorus, the Banque des Territoires operating for the French state as part of the Investments for the Future Programme, Akiles and Capital Grand Est via Alsace Création. They were also joined by some of the company’s previous investors.

HypnoVR will use the funds to accelerate its international roll-out and extend the scope of application of its solution.

Nicolas Schaettel, HypnoVR president and cofounder, said: “This funding shows the relevance and international potential of our medical hypnosis technology when it comes to reducing pain and anxiety.”

EPR provider Alcidion to acquire Silverlink

Electronic Patient Record (EPR) provider Alcidion has announced it is to acquire Silverlink PCS Software Limited.

The acquisition provides Alcidion with patient administration system (PAS) capabilities to complement its existing clinical capabilities in the Miya Precision EPR. Completion of the transaction is expected to occur on or around 15 December 2021.

Kate Quirke, Alcidion Group managing director said: “This acquisition is very exciting and aligns with our overall intention to enhance the services we can offer the NHS.”

Proximie announces partnership to improve obstetric surgical care in Kenya

Med tech firm Proximie has teamed with global health non-profit Jhpiego on a safe surgery project in Kenya.

Proximie has offered its software, that allows physicians to virtually ‘scrub-in’ and mentor colleagues in real time, to Jhpiego’s Obstetric Safe Surgery project.

The goal of the Johnson & Johnson funded project is to support the government of Kenya’s commitment to reduce maternal and newborn deaths and obstetric-related injuries by improving the quality of caesarean sections.

Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram, Proximie CEO, said: “Our work with the local surgical teams on the ground in Kenya, and with Jhpiego, and Ariadne Labs, is going to help democratise access to important caesarean section surgical techniques and knowledge that would otherwise be siloed due to geography or time.”

AccuRx report reflects growing digital primary healthcare presence

GP practices in the UK are seeing more patents than ever before despite there being fewer GPs per patient, according to a report by software provider AccuRx.

The white paper Better access to primary care says there has been a 30% increase in the number of GP appointments since 2019.

It outlines how COVID-19 dramatically accelerated adoption of healthcare technology, with GP surgeries with capability for video consultation increasing usage from 3% to 99% during March 2020.

Jacob Haddad, accuRx CEO and cofounder, said: “The current system is not sustainable; we need to focus on improving staff wellbeing, increasing the number of GPs and redefining valuable primary care — all of which will ultimately improve patient outcomes.”

Swedish startup NuvoAir launches new asthma and COPD sensor

Stockholm-based digital health firm NuvoAir has released an add-on sensor for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) inhalers.

The NuvoAir Aos sensor brings additional data to the service platform enabling NuvoAir care coordinators and healthcare providers to assess inhaler technique, monitor inhaler use and evaluate treatment effectiveness. 

Lorenzo Consoli founder and CEO said: "By leveraging our technology and clinical service, we are able to proactively intervene when early signs of declining health are detected.”
